In the mid 19th century, in the California started new Gold Rush. People from all over the world came to San Francisco to become rich. Young Frenchman Etienne Guittard had a different vision. He felt that real gold lies in the production and sale of premium chocolate. Etienne do the right thing and in 1868 founded the company Guittard Chocolate, which has made a great success. The quality of chocolate from the beginning of the company was the most important thing. To ensure quality, Guittard began to order top-quality cocoa beans from all around the world.
Guittard Chocolate Company has remained a family-owned business to this day. Company survived all natural disasters and recession. One key reason is the direct cooperation with manufacturers of cocoa beans. Experts from Guittard oversee everything; from the production to the process of drying of the cacao beans.
Certainly the most important products of the company in the twentieth century were Guittard Sweet Ground Chocolate, Guittard milk chocolate chips and many types of dark chocolate. We will present several famous types of dark chocolate:
Nocturne 91% Cacao Extra Dark – the choice for the true lovers of strong dark chocolate. It contains as many as 7 different kinds of cocoa beans, originally from Africa, Central America and Asia. It has a strong aroma of red fruit and citrus.
Quetzalcoatl 72% Cacao Bittersweet Mass – named after a mythical god of the morning star, feathered serpent, who brought us chocolate. This chocolate has no added cocoa butter, has a very high intensity of flavor, with a little sweetness.
